First day
Your first day on Sarim starts with a free perk, basic equipment and 500,000 coins. Finish account setup, prepare one combat or skilling setup, then complete a short activity and claim its rewards.
| Starting benefit | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| 500,000 coins | Keep money for food, ammunition, runes and task equipment. |
| One free level-5 player perk | Choose it for your first activity, then equip it. |
| Six active perk slots | Add useful perks as you earn points; slots are available from the start. |
1. Finish account setup
Get the launcher from the Play page. In the Sarim client, log in with an unused username and a new password to create your account. Use a password you do not use for OSRS or another service. See RuneLite for client setup help.
- Choose your appearance and account type. Account modes compares Regular, Ironman variants, group modes and Lucklocked. Lucklocked is a permanent Ironman mode with extra reward-container and clue chances.
- Choose XP difficulty. Normal 25×, Hard 10× or Extreme 3×. Your account type and XP difficulty are separate choices. Later difficulty changes reset skills; read the consequences before confirming.
- Resolve the optional PIN prompt. Choose Set an account PIN or Skip for now. You can enable a PIN later with
::pin. - Group accounts: join or form your group. Group IM and Hardcore Group IM complete this on the island before leaving for home.
You receive a training amulet, an Achievement Book, coins, basic combat equipment, runes and arrows. Extreme accounts also receive charged training weapons. Check your inventory for food before leaving home; regular accounts should buy it before their first fight. Lucklocked also starts with 300 noted lobsters, three low tier mystery boxes and one Slayer mystery box.
2. Unlock and equip your free perk
At home, open Sarim Perks in the client sidebar. Your first free unlock gives one player perk at perk level 5. Choose a perk for the activity you want to start with:
| First activity | Consider | What it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Melee against monsters | Speedy Strikes | Faster melee attacks. |
| Ranged against monsters | Deadeye | Faster ranged attacks, accuracy and damage. |
| Magic against monsters | Arcane Dominion | Faster Magic attacks, accuracy and damage. |
| Woodcutting | Lumberjack | Log handling and chances to keep trees from depleting. |
| Fishing | Master Angler | Automatic cooking and banking of eligible catches. |
| Mining | Prospector | Eligible ore banking and chances to keep rocks from depleting. |
Read the perk's effect and conditions before confirming. These are starting suggestions for different routes. Perk builds explains supporting perks, set bonuses and skilling restrictions.
Ultimate Ironmen: Master Angler's automatic cooking and banking do not work for your mode, so choose another first perk. Lumberjack and Prospector can still help with resource depletion, but cannot bank resources for you. Automatic cooking on other accounts needs the Cooking level and can burn food.
After unlocking, press Equip and check the active-perk list. Owned perks must be equipped to work. Perk changes require you to be at home. You can swap owned perks and save loadouts for later trips.
Your build holds up to six active player perks. Spendable perk points buy and upgrade perks; Lifetime Perk Points record what you have earned. Equipment attachments are a separate system and do not take those six slots.
3. Prepare your first setup
| Client tool | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Sarim Perks | Unlocks, equipped perks and saved loadouts. |
| Sarim Hub | Teleports, drop tables and the Tasks tab. |
| Sarim Shops | Eligible equipment and supply purchases while at home. |
Equip the training amulet before combat. It adds 30% combat XP while the skill being trained is below level 75. Wearing it also allows matching equipped starter gear to upgrade as your levels rise.
Choose one of your starting weapons: an iron scimitar, shortbow with iron arrows, or staff of air with runes for your spell. Equip armour for that style and leave room for food and drops. Bank spare equipment if your mode allows it. Use Equipment progression when you are ready for another weapon.
- Regular accounts: open Sarim Shops at home and buy food from the Consumables Store. Carry coins in your inventory and check the price before buying.
- Ironman accounts: check the Iron Man Store for eligible tools and supplies, including food.
- Bring any protection or finishing item your Slayer target needs, plus enough ammunition or runes for a short trip.
Food bought from a shop or included in a starter package may be noted. Use noted food on a banker and enter an amount to unnote it, leaving free inventory slots for the food. This exchange also works for Ultimate Ironmen. Take unnoted food into the fight.

4. Claim your first home rewards
These four Easy Sarim Achievements give another 1,000,000 coins in total. Each can be claimed once:
| Achievement | Action | Coins |
|---|---|---|
| Just a little boost | Use ::home or a restoration pool. |
100,000 |
| Nexworking | Teleport to Sand crabs through Sarim Hub, then return home. | 200,000 |
| Oh cul | Use the occult altar and select a different spellbook. | 200,000 |
| Feeling like a new man | Unequip all gear and open the Makeover Mage's appearance menu. | 500,000 |
Open your Achievement Book, select each completed achievement and press Claim reward. Completing the action does not collect the reward. Leave inventory space for its items, re-equip your gear and choose the spellbook you intend to use afterwards. Magic users should select their spell or autocast again after changing spellbooks.
Each normal achievement claim gives five perk points. Your first perk-point award from either a Sarim achievement or a Combat Achievement also gives a ten-point milestone bonus. Spend points on perks that help your chosen route, and equip each new perk before leaving home.
5. Complete one manageable activity
Combat: an ordinary Slayer task
Use ::slayer to reach the masters and start with Turael. Check your assignment with ::task. Buy any required protection or finishing item from the Slayer Coin Shop, then use Sarim Hub to reach your target.
Bring food and supplies, complete the assignment and return for your next task. Slayer explains master requirements, task locations, skips and rewards.
Wilderness Slayer is optional and has different risks, especially for hardcore accounts. Read Death before taking valuable equipment into an unfamiliar fight.
Skilling: use a tool and a matching perk
If you prefer gathering, buy the appropriate axe, pickaxe or fishing tools from an eligible shop. Use Sarim Hub to reach a training destination and start with the skill matching your free perk. Skilling covers tools, starting spots and level goals.
Check Tasks in Sarim Hub before choosing the trip. A Daily Task that matches your activity lets you make progress towards another reward at the same time.
6. Collect progress rewards
| System | What to check |
|---|---|
| Daily Tasks | Claim each completed card for its displayed item, coins and Sarim points. Finishing all five also unlocks a separate completion claim. |
| Sarim Achievements | Claim completed achievements through the Achievement Book for their rewards and perk points. |
| Combat Achievements | Open ::cas to review tasks. Task perk points arrive on completion; claim eligible tier item rewards from Ghommal at home.
|
| Collection log | Open ::clog to inspect missing items and manually claim completed log rewards.
|
Each new unique collection-log entry awards one perk point, with milestone bonuses. Your first unique gives five extra points; 100 unique entries gives a 40-point bonus. The entry's points are awarded when it is recorded; a completed log's reward is a separate claim.
Read clue scrolls
Clue scrolls do not require a puzzle route on Sarim. Use Read to claim the rewards directly. Leave inventory space and check your bank for overflow rewards. Ultimate Ironmen receive overflow on the ground and should pick it up before teleporting away. Keep useful equipment and supplies before deciding what to sell or break down.
Voting and claiming
Use ::vote to open the voting page. After completing eligible provider votes, return to the game and use ::claimvote. Leave inventory space and read the claim response. The voting page explains provider timing, rewards and streak rules.
Optional equipment attachments
At the Item Workbench, inspect spare equipment, the materials it returns and the attachment recipe before spending resources. Disintegration consumes the selected items. Keep the equipment you are using for your first trips.
Trailblazer is a boot attachment that can add Agility XP when you gain eligible XP in another skill. The boots must be equipped for the effect. Item attachments do not use player-perk slots. Read the Workbench's costs and roll outcomes before attempting an upgrade.
Pick your next goal
A completed activity, an equipped perk and enough supplies for another trip are useful first-session progress. Choose your next upgrade around what you can already do:
- Equipment progression: weapons, armour and supplies for your next setup.
- Money making: first coins, Daily Tasks and repeatable trips.
- Perk builds: combat cores, supporting perks and gathering loadouts.
- Ironman: a route for self-sufficient accounts.
- Bosses and Argentavis: read the fight and preparation before taking on a boss.
- Raids and Echo bosses: later encounters with their own entry requirements and rewards.
- RuneLite: client setup and troubleshooting.
