The Raging Echo of Cerberus spawns in a private instance of the hellhound lair. The boss is stationary — it does not move — and uses the same combat behaviour as normal Cerberus. The primary reasons to farm this encounter are the Houndfire Fang crafting component and the direct Fang of the Hound drop.

== The encounter ==

Cerberus spawns at a fixed position in the lair and stays there. Its movement is locked, so the arena geometry is consistent — you know exactly where the boss will be on entry and after respawn. The encounter uses Cerberus's existing combat behaviour, including its signature triple-ghost attack, lava pools, and prayer-draining mechanics.

Players unfamiliar with Cerberus should run the normal encounter first. The ghost and lava mechanics are the same, and positioning mistakes in the Echo instance have the same consequences.

<blockquote>'''Respawn interval.''' Echo Cerberus respawns approximately 10 seconds after death. You stay inside the private instance between kills — there is no need to re-enter between attempts.</blockquote>

* '''Learn normal Cerberus first.''' The triple ghost attack and lava pool mechanics carry over directly. These are the main sources of supply drain.
* Use a prayer layout you can switch without losing track of your movement.
* '''Sustain between kills.''' The 10-second respawn window is short. Food and prayer management for extended sessions matters more than single-kill burst performance.
* Avoid filling your next standing area with lava. Old lines remain dangerous.
* '''Plan for a 256-kill average.''' The Houndfire Fang has a 1-in-256 rate. Expect variance on both sides. A session target of 200–300 kills is reasonable for component farming.
* Carry enough food and Prayer restoration for repeated waves; a fast start does not guarantee a soul-free kill.

Echo Cerberus on Sarim RSPS uses magic attacks, recurring lava lines and nine-soul waves. Its solo reward path leads to Fang of the hound, a dagger with Flames of Cerberus and a damaging special attack.

Complete Unrequired Antifire, which asks you to kill Cerberus without taking lava-pool damage. Check the task in ::cas, then select Echo Cerberus in the teleport interface.

The repeating attack sequence

Cerberus cues and responses
Cue What happens Response
Regular attacks Cerberus uses magic between specials. Protect from Magic between the attacks that need a different response.
Every fourth attack: “Grrrrrrrrrr” Two lava lines travel toward your saved position. Their tiles remain dangerous for the rest of the kill. Move away from the saved tile and plan around the lines already on the floor.
Every twelfth attack: howl and souls A nine-soul wave takes priority over the lava attack. There is no additional health-threshold wave. Read each soul and use its matching protection prayer.
Soul attack Correct prayer blocks the hit. An unprotected soul deals 30 damage. Match Protect from Missiles, Magic or Melee to each soul; do not assume the previous wave’s order.
Standing in lava Lava deals 15–18 damage every two ticks. Keep moving onto clear tiles, including while changing prayers.

The wave is three shuffled groups of ranged, magic and melee souls. All nine matter. Soul attacks are staggered, so stay focused after the first group has passed. Cerberus also caps an individual incoming hit at 120 damage.

Solo drop rates

Rewards per Echo Cerberus kill
Reward Amount or chance
Coin floor 350,000 every kill
Additional coins 1,500,000 at 1 in 26
Houndfire fang 1 in 256
Fang of the hound 1 in 1,024, separate finished-item roll

The ordinary boss’s guaranteed drops are included once, alongside a normal potential-drop roll. There is a separate 25% chance of one extra normal potential-drop roll. That extra roll does not increase the dedicated Echo component or finished-item rates below.

Fang of the hound recipe

Houndfire fang + Abyssal dagger + Primordial crystal → Fang of the hound. The recipe uses the crystal, not Primordial boots.

A component is an upgrade attempt. The equipment recipe has a 50% base success rate, increased by your donor rank. A failed attempt consumes the Echo component and keeps the listed equipment ingredients. A successful attempt consumes both. See the complete upgrade rules before crafting.

The dagger can add Flames of Cerberus to successful normal NPC hits. Its 50%-energy special adds guaranteed flames after a damaging primary hit and a three-part burn. Read the damage rules and conditions.

Make room for the soul wave

  • Use a prayer layout you can switch without losing track of your movement.
  • Avoid filling your next standing area with lava. Old lines remain dangerous.
  • Carry enough food and Prayer restoration for repeated waves; a fast start does not guarantee a soul-free kill.
