The Raging Echo of King Black Dragon runs inside a private instance of the KBD lair. It is the most straightforward Echo encounter mechanically: one boss, one arena, one crafting component to farm. The Frozen King Core at 1-in-320 is the main reason to spend time here.

== The encounter ==

The King Black Dragon spawns in the same arena used by normal KBD. It uses the same three dragonfire variants — regular, venomous, and freeze — plus the standard melee and range attack rotation. An antifire potion and antidragonfire shield are the baseline requirements, same as the non-Echo version.

The KBD encounter is one of the simpler Echo fights once you have the appropriate protection. Players new to King Black Dragon should run the normal encounter to understand the dragonfire patterns before switching to the private instance.

<blockquote>'''Respawn interval.''' Echo KBD respawns approximately 10 seconds after death. You stay inside the private instance between kills — there is no need to re-enter between attempts.</blockquote>

* '''Antifire protection is required.''' An antidragonfire shield and antifire potion are the baseline for any KBD encounter. This doesn't change in the Echo instance.
* Plan your route through clear tiles instead of standing in one firing position.
* '''Account for 320-kill variance.''' The Frozen King Core rate is one per 320 kills on average. Sessions of 400–500 kills before a component drop are within normal range.
* Keep prayer and stat-restoration supplies accessible after corrupting or shock breath.
* '''Normal KBD first.''' The dragonfire attack patterns are the same. Learn them in the open world before committing to private-instance farming.
* Leave enough supplies for four minions. Continuing to attack the protected boss cannot skip this phase.

Echo King Black Dragon on Sarim RSPS combines five breath attacks with a minion phase. The reward path is King’s barrage: a crossbow with a second NPC hit and a toggleable freeze effect.

Unlock and enter

Complete Who Is the King Now? The task asks for 10 King Black Dragon kills in one private instance without leaving. Once completed, select Echo King Black Dragon in the teleport interface.

Breath attacks and the minion phase

Read the attack, then move or respond
Attack or cue What happens Response
Corrupting dragonfire Disables your active prayers. Check and reactivate the prayers you need after the disruption.
Dragonfire An X-shaped blast targets your saved tile. Its footprint widens at half health. Move clear of the diagonal blast lanes.
Icy breath Freezes you for three seconds if you remain on the targeted tile. Move off the saved tile before impact.
Shock breath A cross-shaped hazard repeatedly damages and drains combat stats. It becomes wider and pulses longer at half health. Leave the cross and avoid stepping back into it while it pulses.
Toxic breath Leaves persistent venom pools around the targeted area. More pools appear at half health. Choose clear floor and keep an exit route.
“SKREEEEEAAAR!” / four dragons At half health, four Echo black dragons are summoned once. KBD blocks incoming damage while any remain. Switch to the minions and clear all four before resuming damage on KBD.

These are custom ground and prayer mechanics. An antifire setup alone does not answer the tile hazards, stat drain or prayer disruption.

Solo drop rates

Rewards per Echo King Black Dragon kill
Reward Amount or chance
Coin floor 300,000 every kill
Additional coins 1,250,000 at 1 in 26
Frozen king core 1 in 320
King’s barrage 1 in 1,024, separate finished-item roll

The ordinary boss’s guaranteed drops are included once, alongside a normal potential-drop roll. There is a separate 25% chance of one extra normal potential-drop roll. That extra roll does not increase the dedicated Echo component or finished-item rates below.

King’s barrage recipe

Frozen king core + Dragon hunter crossbow + Armadyl crossbow → King’s barrage. Bring one of each equipment ingredient to the equipment upgrade interface.

A component is an upgrade attempt. The equipment recipe has a 50% base success rate, increased by your donor rank. A failed attempt consumes the Echo component and keeps the listed equipment ingredients. A successful attempt consumes both. See the complete upgrade rules before crafting.

Against NPCs, King’s barrage adds a second hit with half the normal maximum damage. A damaging second hit applies its freeze when enabled. It requires bolt ammunition; see the full effect and toggle details.

Build the trip around movement

  • Plan your route through clear tiles instead of standing in one firing position.
  • Keep prayer and stat-restoration supplies accessible after corrupting or shock breath.
  • Leave enough supplies for four minions. Continuing to attack the protected boss cannot skip this phase.
