Ironman on Sarim RSPS means planning your own equipment and supplies. Start by choosing the restrictions you want, then use account perks, the drop browser and the Item Workbench to connect your next few goals.

The self-sufficiency rules are the same as OSRS. The context around them (drop rates, reset policy, XP rate) is different. Know the differences before creating an account.

Ironman on an OSRS private server works the way you'd expect: you get everything yourself, trade is locked, and every upgrade carries the weight of how long it actually took. What changes is what surrounds that. XP rates are different, drop tables are modified, custom content exists that doesn't appear in OSRS, and the server's reset policy determines whether any of it stays with you.

The core rules on RSPS
Ironman mode on a private server means:
# Finish account setup. Confirm account type and XP difficulty. Set the optional PIN or choose “Skip for now.” Group accounts must also join or form a group.
# Unlock and equip your free perk. In Sarim Perks, choose an account perk you will use with your starting style. The free unlock begins at level 5. Verify it is active.
# Check your starter supplies. The training amulet is supplied at the start. Extreme difficulty also receives training weapons. Use the supplies your own account has before planning a route around an item you cannot obtain yet.
# Look up one target. Use Sarim Hub to find the creature, inspect its drops and choose a reachable next upgrade.
# Plan the return trip. Leave room for loot, check your food and choose a task appropriate to your equipment.

* No trading with other players
<span id="what-to-look-for"></span>
* All items, supplies, and upgrades come from your own account's drops, skilling, and content completion
A route you can adapt
* The player economy is present in the world but inaccessible to your account

This is the same as OSRS Ironman. The rules don't change when moving to a private server. What changes is the rates and content those rules apply to.
For a first activity, ordinary Slayer gives you a concrete target while you learn combat and travel. Check the assignment, the target’s requirements and your supplies before travelling. Wilderness Slayer is an optional risk choice, especially for hardcore accounts; it is not required for this starting route.

Group Ironman is the exception to the trading rule within its own structure. A GIM group functions as a shared pool: group members can trade resources among themselves. The restriction applies to everyone outside the group. If you want that shared element, GIM provides it; standard Ironman does not.
As you collect duplicate equipment, inspect it at the Item Workbench. Eligible items can become attachment materials. Keep the equipment you use and check a recipe before destroying something you may need later.

Drop rates and Ironman
This is where private server Ironman diverges most from OSRS Ironman. On OSRS, every Ironman has the same drop rates as normal accounts. The challenge is self-sufficiency, not lower rates.
One optional equipment goal is Trailblazer, an attachment for boots that can award Agility XP while you earn non-Agility XP. This is an item attachment, separate from the account perk you selected at login. See the Workbench reference for materials and roll outcomes.

On private servers, drop rates depend on the server's chosen model. A flat multiplier server applies the same rate modifier to Ironman and Normal accounts alike. A variable rate server can apply different rates based on account type, XP rate, or progression milestones.
<span id="drop-rates"></span>

Choose a source, not a promised kill count
What this creates in practice: if a server's multiplier is too generous, rare items lose their milestone quality. The Ironman challenge becomes a skilling grind rather than a drop grind, because drops arrive quickly enough to remove the uncertainty from acquisition. If rates are too close to OSRS on a server where sessions are shorter or the content pacing is different, Ironman accounts can stall waiting for drops from content they can't consistently clear.

Variable rate models serve Ironman accounts better when they're well implemented, because rates can reflect how the account is progressing rather than applying one multiplier to everything. A 3x XP rate Ironman farming at a rate that reflects a slower-paced account builds differently than a 25x Ironman on a server where the pacing is tuned for faster progression.

Before starting an Ironman account on any server, find out whether the server publishes its drop rate model for Ironman accounts or whether it applies the same rates as Normal. That information shapes every farming session you plan.

<span id="reset-policy"></span>
Reset policy and Ironman
A server reset is bad for Normal accounts. It's worse for Ironman.

A Normal account loses its items and stats in a reset, but it can participate in the economy during the rebuild. Other players are farming drops and stocking the market. A Normal account can buy its way back toward previous upgrade points without personally re-earning every item.

An Ironman cannot do that. After a reset, the path back is the same as the path there: farm every item, skill every level, earn every upgrade through your own account. There is no shortcut through the economy. The first 500 Dagannoth Kings kills that produced a Berserker ring have to happen again from zero.

For Hardcore Ironman, the damage is compounded further. Hardcore status, the entire premise of the mode, disappears with the reset. An account that maintained clean survival through every piece of challenging content loses that record. There is no transfer, no acknowledgment, no way to represent what the account's history actually was.

This is why reset policy matters more for Ironman players than for anyone else. Apply extra scrutiny to the reset question before creating an Ironman account on any server.

<span id="account-modes"></span>
Ironman variants on Sarim
Sarim offers four Ironman variants alongside the Normal mode:

<span id="ironman"></span>
Ironman
Standard self-sufficient progression. No trading outside the account. Every item, supply, and upgrade comes from your own drops and skilling. The most common starting point for players new to Ironman on RSPS.

<span id="hardcore-ironman-hcim"></span>
Hardcore Ironman (HCIM)
Ironman with a survival status attached to it. A qualifying death can permanently remove the hardcore designation from the account. The account continues as a standard Ironman, but the hardcore status is gone. What counts as a qualifying death is defined by Sarim's current HCIM rules. Check those before relying on assumptions from OSRS or other servers.
Look up both the equipment and its ingredients in Sarim Hub. A rare item’s displayed chance does not guarantee a drop within that many kills. Alternative equipment can keep your account moving while you work toward it.

<span id="ultimate-ironman-uim"></span>
Collection-log progress also earns perk points. New unique entries award points, with additional milestones; use those points to buy or upgrade account perks. The active build limit is six perks. Lifetime earned points record progression rather than opening extra active slots.
Ultimate Ironman (UIM)
No bank access. Everything the account holds must fit in the inventory or be left behind. This makes storage, routing, and preparation into explicit systems that the account has to solve alongside normal progression. UIM is the most logistically demanding mode on Sarim.

<span id="group-ironman-gim"></span>
Group Ironman (GIM)
Up to five players share a progression pool. Group members can trade resources within the group. Everything else, including trading with the outside economy or getting items from players not in the group, is still restricted. GIM works best with a group that has agreed on pace, activity expectations, and goals before starting.

<span id="xp-rate"></span>
<span id="xp-rate"></span>
XP rate choice for Ironman
XP difficulty is a separate restriction
XP rate is chosen separately from account mode at account creation. It's locked after creation. The choice affects:
Normal 25×, Hard 10× and Extreme 3× change the base pace of skill training. They do not remove Ironman’s resource requirements. Decide how much of your route you want to spend training and how much gathering equipment or learning encounters.

* How quickly your account reaches skill requirements for content
<blockquote>Changing difficulty has a cost. Up to three changes are available through Party Pete, but each resets skills. Read the XP-rate change rules before choosing a rate as a temporary stepping stone.</blockquote>
* How drop rates scale (on Sarim's variable model, XP rate ties to drop rate)
* How long the skilling phase of the account lasts before boss content becomes the focus

For Ironman, two things are worth thinking through:
<span id="reset-policy"></span>

Plan around the published progression policy
Level gates: skill requirements for content (Slayer levels, Herblore for potions, Agility for shortcuts) are reached faster at higher XP rates. A 25x Ironman spends less total time on skills before being able to access most content. A 3x Ironman will spend noticeably more time in the skilling phase.

Drop rate context: on a server where drop rates scale with XP rate, a 3x Ironman and a 25x Ironman may see different rates on the same table. This changes what a typical farming session produces and what "average kills to a drop" actually means for each account. Understand this before choosing a rate, because it affects every hour of farming you'll do.

No rate is universally correct for Ironman. 3x is closer to OSRS's feel: more time in early and mid content. 25x gets you to endgame content quickly. 10x sits between the two. Choose based on what stage of progression you're there for. The XP rate guide covers this in more detail.

<span id="what-to-look-for"></span>
What to look for in an Ironman server
In order of importance:

# No-reset policy, published and specific. Non-negotiable for any Ironman account that's meant to last. A server that resets erases the entire Ironman challenge along with the progress.
Sarim publishes a no-server-reset commitment. Voluntary XP changes and hardcore deaths have separate consequences; the policy does not cancel them.
# Published drop rate model. Ironman accounts need to know whether rates are the same as Normal or scaled differently. Servers that don't document this are harder to plan around, and surprises in either direction can be demoralizing.
# All Ironman variants available. Some players aren't sure which challenge level they want until they've played for a while. A server with only one Ironman mode removes that option. Mode changes after creation are usually difficult or impossible.
# Custom content accessible to Ironman. Custom boss encounters, equipment, and progression systems that require trading or store purchases are off-limits to Ironman accounts. Verify that the custom content you're interested in is actually accessible through drops before committing.
# Active development. An Ironman account that clears all available content and then has nothing new to work toward is an account without a purpose. Servers that continue shipping content extend the meaningful Ironman goals over time.

Quick answers
Before your next upgrade
<span id="is-rsps-ironman-as-hard-as-osrs-ironman"></span>
Is RSPS Ironman as hard as OSRS Ironman?
Usually not. XP rates and drop rates on private servers are typically more generous, so milestones arrive faster. The self-sufficiency rules are the same, but the time investment differs.

<span id="can-modes-be-changed-after-account-creation"></span>
Can modes be changed after account creation?
It depends on the server. Most servers treat mode as permanent or require staff approval to change it. Check Sarim's current mode rules before creating an account if flexibility matters to you.

<span id="is-group-ironman-worth-starting-with-a-random-group"></span>
Is Group Ironman worth starting with a random group?
Probably not. GIM works best with players you know. Groups are locked, and an inactive member affects everyone else's progression. Starting with strangers is a risk.

<span id="does-sarim-s-custom-content-work-for-ironman-accounts"></span>
Does Sarim's custom content work for Ironman accounts?
Yes. Echo boss encounters run as private solo instances and drop Demonic Pact crafting components and finished items through the same paths as Normal accounts. The content is designed around solo play, which fits Ironman naturally.

<span id="what-s-the-difference-between-uim-and-ironman-on-rsps"></span>
What's the difference between UIM and Ironman on RSPS?
Bank access. A UIM account has no bank, so every item the account owns has to fit in the inventory or get left behind. Storage becomes a central challenge alongside normal progression. On high XP rate servers, this becomes especially demanding because you reach high-level content faster than you might have gear or supplies to handle it.
* Can this account obtain every required item without prohibited trading?
* Does the activity have a level, task or equipment requirement?
* Is the perk owned and active?
* Will crafting or disintegration consume an item you still need?
* For Ultimate or hardcore accounts, have you checked storage and death consequences?

Ironman on Sarim RSPS means planning your own equipment and supplies. Start by choosing the restrictions you want, then use account perks, the drop browser and the Item Workbench to connect your next few goals.

Choose your Ironman variant

Choose the constraint you want
Mode Additional consideration
Ironman No player trading; use your personal bank to organise supplies and upgrades.
Hardcore Ironman Ironman with a hardcore status lost on an unsafe death.
Ultimate Ironman No player trading and no personal bank. Inventory space is part of every route.
Group Ironman Trade and share storage within a team of up to five players. Join or form the group before leaving the island.
Hardcore Group Ironman Group progression with five shared lives and hardcore death consequences.

Use the full mode comparison for restrictions and status changes. Do not start a restricted account assuming you can later switch freely; ask support about any removal request before relying on it.

Your first useful actions

 1. Finish account setup. Confirm account type and XP difficulty. Set the optional PIN or choose “Skip for now.” Group accounts must also join or form a group.
 2. Unlock and equip your free perk. In Sarim Perks, choose an account perk you will use with your starting style. The free unlock begins at level 5. Verify it is active.
 3. Check your starter supplies. The training amulet is supplied at the start. Extreme difficulty also receives training weapons. Use the supplies your own account has before planning a route around an item you cannot obtain yet.
 4. Look up one target. Use Sarim Hub to find the creature, inspect its drops and choose a reachable next upgrade.
 5. Plan the return trip. Leave room for loot, check your food and choose a task appropriate to your equipment.

A route you can adapt

For a first activity, ordinary Slayer gives you a concrete target while you learn combat and travel. Check the assignment, the target’s requirements and your supplies before travelling. Wilderness Slayer is an optional risk choice, especially for hardcore accounts; it is not required for this starting route.

As you collect duplicate equipment, inspect it at the Item Workbench. Eligible items can become attachment materials. Keep the equipment you use and check a recipe before destroying something you may need later.

Item Workbench showing Disintegrate Items and Workbench Storage
Inspect an item at the Workbench before disintegrating it. Its materials can support a later attachment; the item itself is consumed.

One optional equipment goal is Trailblazer, an attachment for boots that can award Agility XP while you earn non-Agility XP. This is an item attachment, separate from the account perk you selected at login. See the Workbench reference for materials and roll outcomes.

Choose a source, not a promised kill count

Look up both the equipment and its ingredients in Sarim Hub. A rare item’s displayed chance does not guarantee a drop within that many kills. Alternative equipment can keep your account moving while you work toward it.

Collection-log progress also earns perk points. New unique entries award points, with additional milestones; use those points to buy or upgrade account perks. The active build limit is six perks. Lifetime earned points record progression rather than opening extra active slots.

XP difficulty is a separate restriction

Normal 25×, Hard 10× and Extreme 3× change the base pace of skill training. They do not remove Ironman’s resource requirements. Decide how much of your route you want to spend training and how much gathering equipment or learning encounters.

Changing difficulty has a cost. Up to three changes are available through Party Pete, but each resets skills. Read the XP-rate change rules before choosing a rate as a temporary stepping stone.

Plan around the published progression policy

Sarim publishes a no-server-reset commitment. Voluntary XP changes and hardcore deaths have separate consequences; the policy does not cancel them.

Before your next upgrade

 • Can this account obtain every required item without prohibited trading?
 • Does the activity have a level, task or equipment requirement?
 • Is the perk owned and active?
 • Will crafting or disintegration consume an item you still need?
 • For Ultimate or hardcore accounts, have you checked storage and death consequences?

Continue with the first-session checklist, then use the Wiki for the specific upgrade or encounter you choose.

Self-supply and group tools

Use Farming and Herblore together to build potion supplies. Prayer covers protection-prayer goals and altar choices; Construction covers buying and training a house.

For cooperation and shared storage, read Group Ironman before choosing a group mode. Lucklocked has its own permanent rules and Fortune systems. Gear Loadouts helps bank users prepare repeated trips.
