Pick your first perk
1. Finish account setup
When you log in for the first time, your first task is claiming a perk. Two good options for new players:
In the Sarim client, enter an unused username and a new password, then log in. This creates your account. Choose your appearance before continuing through the setup screens. Use a password you do not use for OSRS or another service.

* Deadeye if you prefer to spec range first
# Confirm your account type. Regular, solo Ironman variants and group modes have different restrictions. The mode comparison explains them.
** Boosts range attack speed
# Choose XP difficulty. Normal 25×, Hard 10× or Extreme 3×. Later changes reset skills; read the consequences before confirming.
** At Tier 5 it provides 10% ranged accuracy, 5% ranged damage and +3 range
# Resolve the optional PIN prompt. Choose “Set an account PIN” or “Skip for now.” You can enable a PIN later with <code>::pin</code> .
* Speedy Strikes if you prefer to spec melee first
# Group accounts: join or form your group. Group IM and Hardcore Group IM start this part on the island. Complete it before trying to leave for home.
** Boosts melee attack speed

Once you have your perk, head to the slayer masters found around the building north home. Wilderness Slayer is a strong choice early on as you get the Slayer Key drops as well as Larran's keys. Both key types drop supplies, and the extra income from Larran's keys gives you a noticeable head start.
<blockquote>Unlocked is not the same as active. After unlocking the perk, equip it and check the active-perk list. Perk changes require you to be at home. You can change your active selection later and save loadouts.</blockquote>

If you would rather avoid the Wilderness, any Slayer Master works. The keys from standard slayer alone are still a decent supply source early on.
Your build can hold up to six active account perks. Spendable perk points buy and upgrade perks; Lifetime Perk Points record what you have earned. Equipment attachments use a separate system described in the perk reference.

Achievements and Combat Achievements both reward perk points when you complete them. Perk points are how you unlock additional perk slots, and more slots mean more flexibility in how you build your account.

You do not need to grind achievements in isolation. Work through them alongside your slayer tasks and they will complete naturally. Check the list regularly so you know what is close to completion.

Achievements can be viewed via the button at the top of your client.
<span id="slayer"></span>
4. Choose a manageable Slayer task
Combat Achievements can be viewed by typing ::cas
Slayer gives your first combat trip a clear target. Before leaving, check the assignment, your equipment, food and the target’s requirements. Use Sarim Hub to inspect the target and its drops.

<span id="vote"></span>
Ordinary Slayer is a useful starting route while you learn the server. Wilderness Slayer is optional: take it only when you accept the area’s risks, especially on a hardcore account. Do not carry your whole resource supply into an unfamiliar activity.
Vote daily
You can vote every 12 hours.
<span id="achievements"></span>
5. Check the progress you are already making
Type ::vote in-game to open the voting page. Voting rewards you with vote boxes and a raffle ticket for the Daily Raffle.
Open your Achievement Book and review Combat Achievements with <code>::cas</code>. These reward perk points. Choose a nearby objective that fits the activity you are already doing rather than forcing a difficult task immediately.

This takes less than a minute, provides some great rewards and helps grow the server.
<span id="clog"></span>
Collection-log entries also earn points
If you vote consecutively, you earn rewards shown to you when you claim your votes. The higher the streak, the better the rewards.
Each new unique collection-log entry awards one perk point. Milestones add bonuses; reaching 100 unique entries adds 40 bonus points. Check the collection log’s rewards as well as its missing items when choosing another goal.

<span id="clues"></span>
<span id="clues"></span>
Collect clue scrolls
6. Read clues and inspect the rewards
Clue scrolls on Sarim auto-complete when you open them. No puzzle solving required. The items inside can be broken down into upgrade materials, which you will need for the next step.

Clue scrolls also feed your collection log. Each unique collection log entry you hit provides you with a perk point. Reaching 100 unique unlocks, for example, gives 40 bonus perk points on top of the standard rewards. Keep opening clues.
Clue scrolls do not require a puzzle route on Sarim. Use Read to claim the clue’s rewards directly. Keep useful equipment and inspect spare items at the Workbench before breaking them down.

<span id="quick-step"></span>
<span id="quick-step"></span>
Put Trailblazer on your boots
An optional first attachment: Trailblazer
Use the upgrade materials from clue scrolls to add the Trailblazer upgrade to whatever boots you're wearing. Every time you earn experience, it has a chance to provide a percentage of that as Agility XP.
Trailblazer attaches to boots. When you gain non-Agility XP, it can award bonus Agility XP. It is an equipment attachment, so it does not occupy an account-perk slot.

As your agility level climbs, shortcuts start opening up across the map, which saves time and occasionally saves your run.
At the Item Workbench, inspect eligible spare items, their material return and the attachment recipe. Disintegration consumes the selected items. A roll is not a promise of an improvement, so read the outcome rules before spending materials.

Work toward 90 Slayer
A good medium-term goal is 90 Slayer. At that level you can kill Dark Beasts for the Dark Bow.
<span id="vote"></span>
Voting and claiming
With the Deadeye perk active the Dark Bow does strong damage and becomes a solid ranged weapon, opening avenues for you to start bossing.
Use <code>::vote</code> to open the voting page. After completing eligible provider votes, return to the game and use <code>::claimvote</code>. Leave inventory space and read the claim response. The voting page explains provider timing, rewards and the separate streak rules.

<span id="clog"></span>
<span id="dark-bow"></span>
Collection log rewards
A later ranged goal: Dark beasts
Beyond the perk point milestones, the collection log has dedicated rewards that boost your account as you fill it out. Check the reward list so you know what you are working toward. The grind is more engaging when you can see what is coming next.
At 90 Slayer, Dark beasts become an equipment target for their Dark bow drop. Treat this as a later goal, not a requirement to finish your first session. Look up the drop in Sarim Hub and compare it with the equipment you already have.

<span id="plugins-to-know"></span>
Plugins to know
Sarim ships with three custom plugins. They are installed with the client and available from the plugin panel.

* Sarim Perks - opens your perk menu. You can read through the full perk list or check which perks you have active. Changes only take effect at home.
* Sarim Hub - teleports to bosses, minigames, raids, and other NPCs. Has a built-in drop table viewer. Also shows your Daily Tasks and lets you claim the rewards when they are done.
* Sarim Shops - access shop inventories from a single interface without running around to different shopkeepers.

Read your Daily Tasks in the Hub each time you log in. They rotate regularly and the rewards add up quickly.

<span id="argentavis"></span>
<span id="argentavis"></span>
First boss: Argentavis
A later boss goal: Argentavis
Argentavis is a good first boss target. It has a small drop table focused on unique items:
Argentavis has drops including the Superior Potion, Merlin’s Cloak, Argentavis Feather and Ring of AoE. The Superior Potion boosts Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged and Magic to 126 when those base stats are 99; it cannot be used in the Wilderness.

* Superior Potion - the main item to go for. At 99 combat it boosts your combat stats to 126. It is also required for an upgrade path later on.
Check the encounter and your preparation before taking it on. You do not need to obtain a rare drop to call your first session complete. A working perk, a completed activity and a clear next upgrade are useful progress.
* Merlin's Cloak
* Argentavis Feather
* Ring of AoE

The Superior Potion is the priority. Farm Argentavis until you have it, then move on to the next stage of progression.

Start Sarim RSPS by getting one build working. Finish account setup, equip your free account perk, learn the client’s travel and shop tools, then pick an activity that fits your equipment.

At a glance
First unlock 'One level-5 perk' Unlock it for free, then equip it.
Build limit 'Six active perks' Points buy and upgrade perks; they do not unlock more active slots.
First objective 'One manageable activity' Learn your route and supplies before extending the trip.

1. Finish account setup

In the Sarim client, enter an unused username and a new password, then log in. This creates your account. Choose your appearance before continuing through the setup screens. Use a password you do not use for OSRS or another service.

 1. Confirm your account type. Regular, solo Ironman variants and group modes have different restrictions. The mode comparison explains them.
 2. Choose XP difficulty. Normal 25×, Hard 10× or Extreme 3×. Later changes reset skills; read the consequences before confirming.
 3. Resolve the optional PIN prompt. Choose “Set an account PIN” or “Skip for now.” You can enable a PIN later with ::pin .
 4. Group accounts: join or form your group. Group IM and Hardcore Group IM start this part on the island. Complete it before trying to leave for home.

2. Unlock and equip your free account perk

Open Sarim Perks at home. Your first free unlock starts at level 5. Choose a perk that works with the style and equipment you intend to use.

Two combat starting options
If you plan to use… Consider… Why it is relevant
Ranged PvM Deadeye Combines ranged attack-speed, accuracy, damage and range effects.
Melee Speedy Strikes Reduces melee attack delay.

These are starting suggestions, not a ranking of every build. Read the effect and its conditions before using your free unlock.

Unlocked is not the same as active. After unlocking the perk, equip it and check the active-perk list. Perk changes require you to be at home. You can change your active selection later and save loadouts.

Your build can hold up to six active account perks. Spendable perk points buy and upgrade perks; Lifetime Perk Points record what you have earned. Equipment attachments use a separate system described in the perk reference.

3. Learn the three client tools

Where to do the next task
Tool Use it now
Sarim Perks Confirm your chosen perk is active.
Sarim Hub Find teleports, inspect drops and review Daily Tasks.
Sarim Shops Check supplies and eligible purchases while at home.
Sarim home viewed from above, with the central portal and surrounding buildings
Use home as your preparation stop: change perks, check shops and choose your next destination.

4. Choose a manageable Slayer task

Slayer gives your first combat trip a clear target. Before leaving, check the assignment, your equipment, food and the target’s requirements. Use Sarim Hub to inspect the target and its drops.

Ordinary Slayer is a useful starting route while you learn the server. Wilderness Slayer is optional: take it only when you accept the area’s risks, especially on a hardcore account. Do not carry your whole resource supply into an unfamiliar activity.

5. Check the progress you are already making

Open your Achievement Book and review Combat Achievements with ::cas. These reward perk points. Choose a nearby objective that fits the activity you are already doing rather than forcing a difficult task immediately.

Collection-log entries also earn points

Each new unique collection-log entry awards one perk point. Milestones add bonuses; reaching 100 unique entries adds 40 bonus points. Check the collection log’s rewards as well as its missing items when choosing another goal.

6. Read clues and inspect the rewards

Clue scrolls do not require a puzzle route on Sarim. Use Read to claim the clue’s rewards directly. Keep useful equipment and inspect spare items at the Workbench before breaking them down.

An optional first attachment: Trailblazer

Trailblazer attaches to boots. When you gain non-Agility XP, it can award bonus Agility XP. It is an equipment attachment, so it does not occupy an account-perk slot.

At the Item Workbench, inspect eligible spare items, their material return and the attachment recipe. Disintegration consumes the selected items. A roll is not a promise of an improvement, so read the outcome rules before spending materials.

Inspect the selection before disintegrating. Workbench Storage holds materials used for equipment attachments.

Voting and claiming

Use ::vote to open the voting page. After completing eligible provider votes, return to the game and use ::claimvote. Leave inventory space and read the claim response. The voting page explains provider timing, rewards and the separate streak rules.

A later ranged goal: Dark beasts

At 90 Slayer, Dark beasts become an equipment target for their Dark bow drop. Treat this as a later goal, not a requirement to finish your first session. Look up the drop in Sarim Hub and compare it with the equipment you already have.

A later boss goal: Argentavis

Argentavis has drops including the Superior Potion, Merlin’s Cloak, Argentavis Feather and Ring of AoE. The Superior Potion boosts Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged and Magic to 126 when those base stats are 99; it cannot be used in the Wilderness.

Check the encounter and your preparation before taking it on. You do not need to obtain a rare drop to call your first session complete. A working perk, a completed activity and a clear next upgrade are useful progress.
