Nex is a group boss with 3,400 hitpoints and five combat phases. Damage dealt to Nex determines whether you receive loot and how many reward rolls you earn.

Access and preparation

Choose Nex in Sarim Hub, then pass the ancient barrier. Use the altar's Teleport option to leave the chamber.

Bring a ranged weapon, ammunition or charges, a melee switch for ice-prison stalagmites, food and plenty of Prayer restoration. Keep all three protection prayers accessible.

Fight

Nex moves through Smoke, Shadow, Blood, Ice and Zaros phases. When she calls Fumus, Umbra, Cruor or Glacies, kill that minion before attacking Nex again; she blocks damage while the phase is locked.

Use Protect from Magic against her ordinary attacks in Smoke, Blood, Ice and Zaros. Switch to Protect from Missiles for Shadow. Protection reduces these hits, so keep your health high.

  • Move off the shadow patches before they erupt.
  • Stop attacking Nex during her blood siphon: incoming hits heal her. Kill the blood reavers, whose remaining health can also heal Nex.
  • During an ice prison, attack a stalagmite with a strong melee hit to shatter it. The prison turns off your prayers, so restore protection afterward.
  • In the final phase, use Ranged when Nex reflects melee damage.
  • Move away when she shouts Taste my wrath! Her death explosion can still damage nearby players.

Drops

Deal at least 300 damage to Nex to receive her personal rewards. The base number of reward rolls is:

Damage to Nex Reward rolls
300–749 1
750–1,099 2
1,100–2,999 3
3,000 or more 4

Eligible players also receive one ash and 100,000–150,000 coins. Rewards appear at the player's feet. The table lists notable rewards per reward roll; drop-rate bonuses affect the rare-reward chance.
