The Abyssal sire is a Slayer boss that requires 85 Slayer to attack. In the normal world, you also need an abyssal demon or Abyssal sire task. Its main reward is the unsired, which can be exchanged for weapons, bludgeon pieces and other rewards.
Getting there
Choose Abyssal sire in Sarim Hub, then head to an unoccupied boss room. There are four public rooms. The player who starts the fight owns that encounter, so other players cannot join the kill.
Bring a melee setup, food, prayer potions or super restores, antipoison and a teleport for resupplying. Turn on run and keep enough energy to move away from pools and the explosion.
Fight
- Attack the Sire to wake it. The respiratory systems are cleared automatically. Wait for the Sire to step out before attacking it again.
- Use Protect from Melee while fighting it up close. Keep eating, since the prayer reduces its melee damage rather than blocking it.
- Move at least two tiles away from poison pools. Keep away from the tentacles at the sides of the room.
- When the Sire moves farther into the room, keep attacking and avoid the pools. Kill small spawns if they are overwhelming you, before they grow into scions.
- Late in the fight, the Sire pulls you in for an explosion. Run away immediately, leaving at least two tiles between you and the boss's nearest edge. Return after the explosion and finish the kill.
Opening and melee
You do not need Shadow spells or a separate ranged setup to destroy the respiratory systems. Attack the Sire once, wait for the opening transition, then fight it directly.
Its strongest melee swipe hits up to 26 with Protect from Melee or 52 without it. Keep the prayer active and top up your hitpoints before you become low on health.
Poison pools and tentacles
Pools appear on your current tile and also damage adjacent tiles. Move at least two tiles away as soon as a pool appears. Antipoison reduces pool damage while its protection is active, but you still need to move.
Stay near the middle of the room rather than the side tentacles. Active tentacles can hit through protection prayers.
Spawns and scions
Small spawns have 15 hitpoints and grow into 50-hitpoint scions if left alive. They use melee and ranged attacks. Their ranged attacks ignore protection prayers, and prayer does not block every melee hit either.
If several are hitting you at once, clear some while keeping away from pools. During the last part of the fight, focus on finishing the Sire if you can do so safely. Its remaining minions are killed when the boss dies.
Explosion
The final form pulls you close to the Sire before exploding. Move away as soon as the pull ends. Being on or next to the boss can cause a 50 to 72 damage hit, which ignores protection prayers.
Run until you are at least two tiles from the nearest edge of the boss. Wait for the explosion, then return to attack. Do not stay in melee range to squeeze in another hit.
Drops
These notable drop rates are per kill in the normal world, without reward bonuses or extra rolls.
| Item | Quantity | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Unsired | 1 | 1/86 |
| Clue scroll (elite) | 1 | 1/173 |
Unsired rewards
Use an unsired on the Font of Consumption to exchange it for one reward. The following rates are per unsired used.
| Reward | Quantity | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Bludgeon piece | 1 | 1/2 |
| Abyssal dagger | 1 | 1/5 |
| Jar of miasma | 1 | 1/10 |
| Abyssal whip | 1 | 1/11 |
| Abyssal head | 1 | 1/13 |
| Abyssal orphan | 1 | 1/26 |
Keep unfinished bludgeon pieces in your bank or inventory. When the Font gives a piece, it chooses among the pieces you have the fewest of.
Once you have a bludgeon claw, bludgeon axon and bludgeon spine, bring all three in your inventory to the Overseer. It consumes the pieces and gives you an abyssal bludgeon.
Pet
The abyssal orphan can come from an unsired reward. It also has a 1/1001 chance per pet roll from the Sire before boosts.
