Pets are collectable followers obtained from bosses, skilling, clues and other rewards. A newly unlocked pet can follow you immediately. Probita at home returns eligible lost pets without a fee.
Where a new pet goes
When a pet is unlocked, its ownership is recorded. If you have no active pet, it normally appears as your follower. If another pet is already out, the reward tries your inventory, then your bank if it does not fit.
Check the follower, inventory and bank before assuming a pet was lost. Pet-unlock delivery is separate from the ground-overflow rules for ordinary boxes and Ultimate Ironman clue rewards. Most pet unlocks also add the matching collection-log entry.
Summoning and picking up
- Carry the pet item and choose Drop. This summons the pet; it does not discard it as ordinary ground loot.
- Keep one free inventory slot when you want to pick it up.
- Right-click your follower and choose Pick-up to turn it back into its pet item.
Only one pet can be active. You cannot pick up another player's follower, and pickup is unavailable while you are inside a tournament.
If your pet is stuck or too far away, use the follower-call button in the equipment tab. Pets also catch up automatically when they fall far behind.
Placement restrictions
You cannot manually summon a pet in the Wilderness, Donation Boss arena, Vote Boss arena or Summer Event area. Put the pet away before a trip where its placement or retrieval would be inconvenient. These placement restrictions do not make a lost pet permanently unrecoverable.
Changing appearance
Pets with a supported Metamorphosis action can change appearance while following you. Available appearances depend on the pet. A transformation does not give you another pet copy.
The golden baby chinchompa transformation has a special warning: changing away from gold loses that appearance. Read its confirmation before accepting. Supported cats can use Age instead.
Reclaiming a lost pet
- Return home and talk to Probita.
- Choose Can I have my lost pets returned?
- Leave one free slot for every eligible missing pet shown by that dialogue.
Recovery is free; you do not need to buy OSRS-style pet insurance first. Probita checks pets recorded as obtained and returns those missing from your inventory, bank and current follower. A pet still in your bank is not returned as a second copy.
Probita's separate reclaim action can return pets one at a time until your inventory fills. The dialogue option instead asks for enough space for the whole eligible set.
Summer dragon and Summer spirit are excluded from Probita recovery. Keep those event pets safe. Ordinary recovery also does not award a pet you have never obtained.
Improving a pet hunt
Start with the pet's actual source. Boss guides state whether the roll belongs to the killer, each eligible contributor or activity completion. Some pets, such as Olmlet, require an earlier unique-reward roll to succeed.
| Bonus | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Companion Seeker | Equip the player perk. It advertises 5–25% better pet chances across its levels and changes supported pet rolls; it does not add extra rolls or affect guaranteed pets. |
| Pet drop scroll | Choose Activate and confirm for 24 hours. Another cannot be activated while its boost is running. On ordinary monster, supported skilling and Master-clue extra pet rolls, it reduces the pet denominator to 80% before rounding. |
| Shared drop-rate bonus | Reduces ordinary monster pet denominators by the shared percentage; the timed drop-rate boost reduces that denominator by another 5%. It is not a universal bonus for every activity or skilling pet. |
| Donor and Camel Statue pet bonuses | Improve supported source-specific rolls. Do not treat the donor item-drop bonus as the complete donor pet rule. |
The advertised percentage is relative to a pet chance, not a percentage-point chance of receiving the pet. Rounding and separate reward gates can change the final gain. Bloodhound has both an extra Master-clue pet roll and a weighted reward-pool entry; pet boosts affect the extra roll.
If Probita has nothing to return
- Check your bank and current follower.
- Check that you obtained the pet, rather than only seeing it in another player's drop message.
- Leave enough inventory space for the recovery option you chose.
- Check whether it is one of the excluded Summer pets.
