Shooting Stars are shared Mining events where players mine a fallen star for stardust and experience. Its layers become easier to mine as the shared star is depleted. Spend the stardust at Dusuri's shop at home.
Finding a star
- Watch for the world broadcast announcing a star sighting and its location.
- Bring a pickaxe you have the Mining level to use, in your inventory or equipment. Leave a free inventory slot if you are not already carrying stardust.
- Use
::starto teleport near the current star location, then click the star to mine its current layer. - Use the star's inspect action to see how many fragments remain.
Stars can appear around the Al Kharid mine, Karamja, the Fishing Guild, Edgeville Monastery or the Varrock mines. The command saves you a trip to search each location. If the location no longer contains a star, wait for the next sighting broadcast rather than treating a successful teleport as confirmation that the star remains.
A fully mined star is removed, and the world receives a completion broadcast. A star can also dissolve before it is fully mined.
Mining requirements
The outer layer requires 70 Mining. Successive layers require 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 and finally 10 Mining.
| Layer | Mining level |
|---|---|
| Outer layer | 70 |
| Second | 60 |
| Third | 50 |
| Fourth | 40 |
| Fifth | 30 |
| Sixth | 20 |
| Final | 10 |
If your level is too low for the current layer, other miners can expose an easier layer. Click the star again when it changes. You still need a usable pickaxe even at the final layer.
Each successful mining cycle gives 1–3 stardust and 250 base Mining experience. The experience is affected by ordinary account and world XP multipliers. See XP rates for those multipliers.
Stardust stacks in your inventory. An existing stack lets you keep mining with other inventory slots occupied; without a stack, make space before starting. Movement or another action can stop mining, so click the star again to resume after banking or repositioning.
Shared progress
Everyone mines the same remaining fragment supply. Mining a layer changes the star for nearby players, so another player can expose a layer that meets your level requirement.
Stardust is awarded as you mine. You do not need to stay for the final fragment to keep dust already earned. The inspect action helps you decide whether to continue at a nearly depleted star or return home to spend the dust.
Stardust shop
Return to home and interact with Dusuri to open the Stardust Shop. It uses stardust from your inventory and is available to regular and Ironman accounts.
Selected rewards are shown below. Check the shop for its full stock.
| Reward | Stardust |
|---|---|
| Bag full of gems | 150 |
| Soft clay pack | 200 |
| Crystal key | 500 |
| Enhanced crystal key | 2,000 |
| Prospector helmet | 3,000 |
| Prospector jacket | 3,500 |
| Prospector legs | 3,500 |
| Prospector boots | 3,000 |
| Celestial ring (uncharged) | 5,000 |
| Dragon pickaxe | 35,000 |
| Dragon pickaxe upgrade kit | 70,000 |
| Smouldering stone | 150,000 |
The four regular prospector pieces cost 13,000 stardust together. Plan around the item you want before spending small amounts on packs or keys.
The celestial ring's inventory Charge action changes it to the charged ring. This action does not consume stardust. Stardust spent in the shop does not change the star's Mining level requirements.
