Twin Cast is an item perk made at Item Workbench. Its compatible equipment is listed above.
What it changes
A successful standard elemental combat spell that leaves a monster alive can produce one immediate extra hit, calculated as a fraction of the primary hit.
The echo is rounded down with a minimum of 1 damage. It does not make another accuracy roll, consume another set of runes or use another attack interval.
When it helps
Adds an occasional extra elemental hit while you continue your normal casting rhythm. Higher primary hits, including those improved by Elemental Attunement, produce larger echoes.
Worked example
At level 5, a qualifying 30-damage elemental hit has a 15% chance to add an 18-damage echo. A 1-damage primary hit can produce a 1-damage echo because of the minimum. The target must survive the primary hit, and encounter rules may reduce the echo.
Levels
| Level | Effects at this level |
|---|---|
| 1 | Proc chance per qualifying elemental hit: 5% Echo damage: 40% of primary hit |
| 2 | Proc chance per qualifying elemental hit: 7.5% Echo damage: 45% of primary hit |
| 3 | Proc chance per qualifying elemental hit: 10% Echo damage: 50% of primary hit |
| 4 | Proc chance per qualifying elemental hit: 12.5% Echo damage: 55% of primary hit |
| 5 | Proc chance per qualifying elemental hit: 15% Echo damage: 60% of primary hit |
Limits and interactions
Only wind, water, earth and fire strike, bolt, blast, wave and surge spell hits qualify. Ancient spells and built-in powered-staff attacks do not trigger Twin Cast.
Requires positive primary damage, an attack style and a living monster after the primary hit. Misses, killing hits and player targets do not produce an echo.
No cooldown or Wilderness exclusion. Ordinary Gridmaster elemental casts are eligible; secondary Echo and Guardian damage is excluded.
The attachment must still be on your equipped weapon when the primary hit lands. The echo is a secondary hit and cannot recursively produce Twin Cast, Scorch or Soul Rend. Twinflame staff's own echo is a separate effect.
Attach and upgrade
At home, open Item Workbench and choose Perks Mode. Select the equipment from your inventory, then choose Twin Cast. The first application rolls a level from 1 to 5. Applying it again can raise its level; an equal or lower roll keeps the current level and does not refund materials used. Each attempt normally spends the recipe again; eligible donation ranks can preserve individual recipe entries. This does not change the level-roll chances. Level 5 cannot be upgraded further.
| Material | Full recipe | Remove Perk return |
|---|---|---|
| Fractured Essence | 100 | 70 |
| Refined Essence | 50 | 35 |
| Binding Catalyst | 4 | 2 |
Stored and carried materials combine; storage is used first. The return column is for Remove Perk in Perks Mode. It refunds part of one base recipe to Workbench Storage, even after several upgrades. Disintegration destroys the equipment and its attachments.
Level roll chances
| Rolled level | Chance per attempt |
|---|---|
| 1 | 30% |
| 2 | 25% |
| 3 | 20% |
| 4 | 15% |
| 5 | 10% |
These are the chances of each exact rolled level. Selecting a level preview does not choose the result. Repeated attempts do not guarantee level 5.
